Health data notice
Commenting on a food or guide page, or posting in the GoutSafe community, means writing about your health in public. This notice says what we store, who can see it and how to remove it. Reading the community stores nothing about you beyond the site-wide analytics.
What we store when you join. Your email address (or the address from your Google account), the display name you choose, your birth year, and the date you accepted the guidelines and this notice. We store your birth year only to confirm you are old enough to have an account. If you sign in with Google we never see your password and we do not store your Google name or photo.
What we store when you post. The text of your comments, threads and replies, whether you told us a food was fine for you or didn't agree with you, the foods you tag, the photos you upload, your Helpful and Hugs reactions, your poll votes, and the times of each. Photos are resized and stripped of location and camera metadata before they are saved.
Who can see it. Comments, threads, replies, photos, tags, reaction counts and poll results are public and may be indexed by search engines, under your display name. Your own answer on whether a food agreed with you is never shown. A food page shows only the total, and only once 5 or more readers have answered. Your email address, birth year and which posts you personally reacted to or voted on are never shown to other members or to search engines. Your profile page is marked not to be indexed.
What we never do. We do not sell, rent or share your community data with advertisers, data brokers or anyone else. There are no advertising pixels on community pages. Our analytics tools are configured to mask the text you write and the text of other members' posts, and the usage events we record carry no post text and no member identifier.
Email. We email you a sign-in link when you ask for one, and a short notice when someone replies to your post. Every reply email has a one-click link to stop emails for that thread or for all threads, and the same switch is on your account page. We send no newsletters from the community.
Where it lives. Accounts and posts are stored with Neon (Postgres) and sessions with Upstash, both in the United States. Photos are stored with Vercel. Email is sent through Resend. Each is a processor acting on our instructions.
How to delete it. You can edit a post for 30 minutes after writing it and delete it at any time. Deleting your account from your account page removes your profile, every thread and reply you wrote, your photos, reactions and votes, immediately. If you cannot sign in, use the contact form from the email address on the account and we will delete it for you within 30 days.
Removal by us. GoutSafe may remove a post or an account that breaks the guidelines. A removed post is no longer shown to anyone.
This notice was written on October 6, 2026 and applies to the community only. The privacy policy covers the rest of the site.
